Corrections Policy
When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and openly. This page explains how to report an error and exactly what we do next.
Effective date: September 26, 2026. Last updated: September 26, 2026.
1Our commitment
Readers use Axle & Haul to make decisions about real machines, so accuracy matters. Our team researches and reviews every article before it is published, as explained in our editorial policy. Even so, mistakes can happen, and manufacturers can change their information after we publish.
When an error is found, we correct it, tell readers what changed where it matters, and never quietly delete an article to hide a mistake.
2How to report an error
Email contact@axleandhaul.com with the subject line “Correction”. To help us check your report quickly, please include:
- The link to the page and the section or code you are reporting.
- What you believe is wrong and what the correct information is.
- Your machine’s make, model and serial number, if the error relates to a specific machine.
- Your source, such as a page from your operator’s manual, a dealer document or a photo of the machine’s display or label.
We do not use forms, so email is the only way to reach us. We aim to reply within two working days. We will not publish your name or email address without your permission. See our privacy policy.
Machine unsafe right now? Do not wait for our reply. Stop the machine safely, follow your operator’s manual and contact a qualified technician or your dealer.
3How we classify errors
We handle every report according to how much the error could affect a reader.
Safety-critical errors
For example, a code described as minor when it means the machine should be stopped, or missing or wrong safety guidance.
These are our highest priority. We review them first and, if needed, remove or clearly flag the affected section straight away while we confirm the correct information.
Factual errors
For example, a wrong code meaning, an incorrect serial range, a wrong specification or a misattributed source.
We verify the report, correct the article and add a correction note explaining what changed.
Minor errors
For example, spelling and grammar mistakes, formatting issues or broken links.
We fix these without a correction note, because they do not change the meaning of the information.
4What happens after you report
We acknowledge your report
A member of our team confirms we have received it.
We classify it
We decide whether it is safety-critical, factual or minor, and prioritise it accordingly.
We verify it
We check the report against manufacturer documentation and the other sources described in our editorial policy.
We correct the article
A team member makes the change, and a second team member reviews it before it goes live.
We record the change
We add a correction note where required and update the article’s “Last updated” date.
We check related pages
If the same error appears in other articles in the same topic cluster, we correct those too.
We let you know
We reply to tell you what we found and what we changed. If we decide no change is needed, we explain why.
5How corrections appear
For factual errors, we add a dated correction note at the end of the article, like this:
Correction, [date]: An earlier version of this article listed the wrong serial number range for this code. It has been corrected to match the manufacturer’s documentation.
For safety-critical errors, the correction note is placed at the top of the article, so readers see it first:
Safety correction, [date]: An earlier version of this article described this code as non-critical. The manufacturer’s documentation advises stopping the machine. The article has been updated.
6When we cannot confirm a detail
Sometimes a reader’s machine shows something different from the documentation we have, or sources disagree. When we cannot confirm the correct information, we will do one of the following:
- Clearly mark the detail as unconfirmed or as varying between machines.
- Remove the detail until it can be confirmed.
- Advise readers to confirm it with their dealer or the manual for their exact machine.
We will not leave information on the site that we have reason to believe is wrong.
7Corrections and updates
A correction fixes something that was wrong when we published it. An update adds new information or reflects a change made by a manufacturer after we published, such as a new code or a revised service interval. Updates change the article’s “Last updated” date but do not need a correction note, unless the earlier information could have misled readers.
8What is not a correction
We welcome all feedback, but the following are not handled as corrections:
- Differences of opinion about our recommendations, where our information is accurate.
- Requests to add products, links or promotional content. See our affiliate disclosure.
- Requests to remove accurate content.
- Legal, copyright or privacy requests, which should be sent to info@axleandhaul.com.
For the limits of our content, see our disclaimer and terms of use.
